TENUTA SAN GUIDO Sassicaia, Bolgheri DOC

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia, Bolgheri DOC

Sassicaia invented a category. When Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta planted cabernet sauvignon on his coastal Tuscan estate in the 1940s — inspired by Bordeaux and against all conventional wisdom — he created the wine that would eventually give rise to the entire Super Tuscan movement. Now the only single-estate DOC in Italy, Sassicaia is a wine of historic importance and consistent excellence. After more than five decades of serious production, it remains the standard-bearer against which all Italian cabernet is measured.
