ARPEPE remains the definitive benchmark for the Valtellina, a region defined by its steep, hand-worked terraces in the Italian Alps. Il Pettirosso, or the Robin, was originally conceived in years when the Pelizzatti Perego family chose not to bottle their single-vineyard Riservas. It serves as a masterclass in high-altitude Nebbiolo, sourced from vines planted in thin soils over granite rock.

Winemaking follows a traditional, patient philosophy. The fruit undergoes long maceration in wooden vats before maturing for twelve months in large Slavonian oak casks. This approach prioritises clarity and structural elegance over oak influence. The current bottling maintains a consistent house style, benefiting from the extended cellar ageing that defines the estate's commitment to quality before release.

The wine displays a pale ruby colour and delivers a nose of dried rose petals, alpine herbs, and red cherries. On the palate, expect a lean, focused profile with crunchy acidity and fine-grained tannins. It offers flavours of pomegranate and iron, finishing with a characteristic salty minerality.
