CHAMPAGNE SUENEN Montigny-sur-Vesle La Grande Vigne Pinot Meunier, Champagne 2017 Bottle
About this wine
Suenen Montigny-sur-Vesle La Grande Vigne Pinot Meunier, Champagne
Aurélien Suenen is among the new wave of growers redefining Champagne's terroir-driven identity. Based in Cramant, he tends parcels across the northern Côte des Blancs and the Massif de Saint-Thierry, where this single-vineyard cuvée originates. Montigny-sur-Vesle's La Grande Vigne is pure pinot meunier from a chalk-limestone slope planted in 2003. Suenen farms organically and works without herbicides, allowing each parcel to express its site with precision. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, with minimal dosage to preserve the wine's shape and freshness. Each release captures meunier's depth and Suenen's measured hand: notes of red apple, citrus peel, crushed herbs and savoury mineral drive. The palate is tense and focused, balancing ripe fruit with chalky grip. This bottling demonstrates why Suenen has become one of Champagne's most sought-after voices, a grower marrying thoughtful viticulture with clarity and purpose in every bottle.
