DOMAINE DUJAC, Bonnes-Mares, Grand Cru 2014 Bottle
About this wine
Domaine Dujac Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru
The Bonnes Mares Grand Cru lies between the village of Morey-Saint-Denis to the north and Chambolle-Musigny to the south, halfway up the hillside where the slope is very steep (11%). The plot ranges in altitude from 278 to 296m. The lieu-dit faces east.
The soil changes from east to west. The reddish-brown soil in the eastern part is 40 to 50 cm thick, with frequent blunt crinoidal limestone fragments (calcaire à Entroques). To the west, the light-coloured soil is about as thick, but less stony, with some small oyster shells.
Two different types of substratum underlie Les Bonnes Mares. In the eastern part, ocher limestone rich in debris from marine organisms (calcaire à Entroques) crops out in places, because there was once a quarry in this Grand Cru. In the upper quarter of the plot, to the west, this limestone is overlain by marls rich in small oyster shells (marnes à Ostrea Acuminata).
'The quality of a wine is determined primarily in the vineyard. As the owners of exceptional terroirs, it is our responsibility to ensure they reach their full potential, through thoughtful management and constant care.'
