Sourced from three vineyards with an average vine age of 70 years, with 17 months in French oak. This is an abundant wine of dark-fruited depth and sleek elaboration to bottle. It’s silky, full of black berries and plum, chocolate and clove, along with some meatier, smoky notes, iron and violet. It’s got intensity and suppleness while maintaining keen balance, the elegantly fine tannins signing off in style.

ST HUGO Shiraz, Barossa

Barossa Shiraz from the wonderful 2022 vintage gives this wine a wonderful headstart. This is all about plushness, generosity and approachability. An opaque maroon hue, the nose exhibits notes of blackberries, cassis, mocha, coffee beans, tar, bay leaves and gorgeous chocolate – pretty much all the things one expects (hopes for?) in top Barossa Shiraz. There is a slippery texture, excellent balance, focus, direction, sleek tannins and brilliant length. The intensity of the flavours runs the full journey. It will continue to provide immense pleasure for at least the next eight to twelve years.
