ABOUT THE WINERY
Pimpernel Winery

Tucked away behind a cavalcade of famous neighbours on the Yarra Valley’s ‘Golden Mile’, Pimpernel is a boutique producer with stylistic roots in Burgundy and the Rhone. Its ascension to Yarra Valley royalty was aided, however, by one of the true pioneers of local parts - Dr Bailey Carrodus - the founder of next-door neighbour Yarra Yering.

Pimpernel owners Mark and Fiona Horrigan were able to heed advice from Carrodus when they planted the vines in 2001, set up the winery and began producing their first vintages. The late Doctor’s hand can be seen in some of the stylistic choices at Pimpernel to this day.

Yarra Valley staples Chardonnay and Pinot Noir were first to be grown, followed by the introduction of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, Marsanne, and most recently small plantings of Chenin Blanc and Muscat of Alexandria.
