Expert Review
Campbell Mattinson
Pure cabernet aromas, flavours, feel and standing. This sits both pretty and solid in the glass, and while the flavours are one thing it’s the finish that really rocks you; it just goes on and on. Blackcurrant, subtle bay leaves, smoked cedar and assorted, intricate, complex herb notes. It’s all good, it all tastes juicy and wonderful, but the tannin structure, all undertow and rumble, is next level. And then there’s that finish. Importantly, throughout, it never feels as though it’s trying too hard. We’re all ready to be cynical of $1000 new releases but, to my tastes at least, this really does deliver.

Huon Hooke
Deep dense red with a tinge of purple and a lovely nose that puts the fruit first, multi-facted perfumes including high-quality cedary oak, nicely integrated, then a beautifully elegant palate that is finely textured and shaped, the abundant tannins fine and silky, the red berry fruit flavours rocketing through on the middle-palate and finish. It's aromatic without any greenness. Great line and length. A most impressive and delicious cabernet that already drinks well but has an even brighter future ahead of it.

Taylors was established in 1969, three generations ago when Bill Taylor senior and his sons found a site on the Wakefield River in the Clare Valley. The site was 178 hectares on famed terra rossa, red brown loam over limestone soil, perfect for Cabernet Sauvignon, combined with the Clare Valley climate of warm days and cool nights, creating precision and structure in their wines. Taylors are part of Australia’s First Families of Wine, twelve Australian winemaking families that represent the legacy that shaped the foundations of the Australian wine industry. Five different selections in their range, Promised Land, Eighty Acres (carbon emissions are offset), Taylors Estate, TWP (Taylors Winemakers Project), Jaraman, St Andrews, their benchmark wine. Most classic varieties are represented in the Taylors range, including the lesser-known varietals of Vermentino and Tempranillo, their reputation being quality driven wines representing all price points.
