"The 2016 Côte Rôtie is a wild, slightly funky wine that has plenty of charm in its black raspberries, gamey meats, leafy herbs, and violet aromas and flavors. With plenty of sweet fruit on the palate, it has good richness and depth, medium body, and sweet tannins. I like it, but it's certainly for those who don't mind a touch of funkiness in their Syrah."

"Drawn from the Cumelle lieu-dit in the north of the appellation, the 2016 Cote Rotie should be decanted prior to serving to allow some sewer-like notes to dissipate. Once properly aired, this medium to full-bodied wine offers up sturdy notes of black olive, cassis and espresso. It's velvety on the palate, with that texture extending right through the finish."

"Shiny red robe. The nose is rounded, bears a poised red berry fruit aroma with some oak-toffee apparent. It’s lucid and pure in its fruiting, a hint of vegetal and its dried herbs effect. The palate gives bonny wave rolling red fruit, with a very tasty mid-palate, which is seductive. This has great juice at the helm, will please. It takes on crisp, near spearmint tannins on the close. It is a good, lucid wine with brightness. It has the structure to evolve, can grow into itself, amplify over time."
