Vines planted '87, managed organically, hand-picked over 2 weeks, wild yeast open-fermented separately, one batch with 20% whole bunches, another with 50%, matured in French barriques (20% new) for 9 months. Exceptionally powerful on the bouquet and all the way to the finish and aftertaste. Has that tension between savoury fruits on the one hand, and gleaming red and purple fruits on the other. The result is a wine with almost painful length, keeping the taste buds working flat out keeping up to progress along and across the palate.

The identical vinification of this and its vintage sibling strongly suggests it was a best barrel selection, a belief strengthened by the palate. There is abundant depth and richness, the varietal character underwritten by the fine drive and lingering finish. I suspect this wine will widen the gap between the two wines as time goes by.

Deep red/purple colour, with a smoky reductive aroma coupled with toasty oak, and dark cherries emerging. The palate is rich and soft, velvet-smooth and texturally lovely. Cherry fruit evident in the mouth - it's very stylish but the sulfide and smoky oak are fairly assertive at this stage. The smokiness does breathe off a bit. It's quite delicious to drink.

Perfumed, silky, super-fresh and super-drinkable. Pinot noir in a very good place. Musk, cranberry, red cherry and twiggy herbs, though the latter are finely-stitched and understated. There’s a tartness and a fruit sweetness though it’s not a tug of war; they play nicely together. I drank one glass of this over three consecutive days and it remained fresh, vivid, interesting and delicious throughout. No hesitation in recommending this.

Bright red/purple colour and clean, fresh, bright red cherry aromas. A light-bodied but intense, pure-fruit style, which is retaining its youthful vitality well. A subtle, textured wine of great charm.

It’s a Pinot Noir of depth and earthiness, laden with spice and dark cherry flavour. Graphite tannin is firmly bedded down in its core, pleasing autumnal flavour, good flavour and expansion through the mouth, and the finish is not left wanting. A little amaro bitterness tunes up the aftertaste. Much to enjoy here.

Deepish red/purple colour, bright and youthful, the bouquet rich in smoky charcuterie and hints of oak, the wine all-round savoury and sensuous. It's fleshy and rich in the mouth, with abundant soft tannins and plenty of extract. It's got the structure to age superbly, but is also very supple. Delicious wine.
